Abstract

The basic course has presented many obstacles for educators, the latest being the arrival of Generation Y students into the classroom. This generation demands a melding of education and entertainment, which can be accomplished through the development of a learning community within the classroom. This paper describes the importance music and self-disclosure plays in developing a learning community in the basic course classroom and provides suggestions to incorporate these factors into your lesson plan.
