I argue that no productive discussion between adherents to these competing worldviews (postmodernism and Thomism) can occur without a measure of intersubjective understanding, and this understanding is only possible after consensus can be reached on important first principles. Finally, I attempt to initiate this productive discussion by offering a synthetic reading of Aquinas and Heidegger that attempts to reconcile the two.
