Writing Rumination: A Timely Account of Lived Depression

Sat, November 17, 2:00 to 3:15pm, Chicago Hilton, Floor: Eighth Floor, Lake Michigan

Abstract

This article results from a self-reflexive exploration of researching depression from a social scientific perspective. This piece represents an attempt to reconcile my knowledge of the literature on depression and communication with the actuality of my lived experience. The paper takes the form of a layered, “messy” text, and blurs the lines between the past and future, the objective and subjective. The resultant work is intended to illuminate the emotional impact of depression and rumination.
