Maoist Leadership: A Reading of Mao’s Works

Abstract

Research suggests that the socialist ideology is an important cultural force shaping
Chinese organizational communication practices. This study attempts to investigate the
socialist notion of leadership, an important organizational communication practice. A
thematic analysis of Mao’s works has yielded important themes of leadership. These
themes have been presented and discussed. Implications for future research on Chinese
organizational leadership practices have been addressed.
