Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
Mediation and Negotiation Certificates and Peace Studies courses have become increasingly popular in both undergraduate and graduate programs of study. Unique to all of our conflict courses and university programs is the organizing feature of teaching conflict theory and how it translates into actual practice. In this presentation, the panel scholars will discuss on-going projects that have informed their teaching and research and enriched their studentsÂ’ educational experiences. The projects include service learning, internships and independent studies that provide students a variety of opportunities to practice their conflict management skills in a safe and supervised environment. The panelists will also discuss networking, volunteering, designing and participating in workshops as additional opportunities for students, faculty, and community members to develop their conflict management skills.
