Black Male Perceptions and Experiences Deconstructed: Toward a Communication Theory

Abstract

Through scholarship and discussion, the perceptions and experiences of Black men in America will be explicated. The session will contribute to the body of literature that centers on the development of a communications specific theory of Black masculinity. Session participants will traverse the muddy waters of theory development by offering diverse perspectives and rigorous analysis of some of the issues associated with discerning what might be embodied in a new communication oriented theory.
