Self-Fashioning: The Use of Styles as Rhetorical and Political Strategies

Sun, November 18, 8:00 to 9:15am, Chicago Hilton, Floor: Fourth Floor, Conference Room 4M

Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion

Abstract

Because style has taken on such an increased significance in our society, it is imperative that communication and rhetorical scholars begin to take a closer look at how it functions. Therefore, this panel will engage the ways that social style operates as both a communicative and rhetorical practice, not only by tracing the historical origins of what has now become a mainstay of our culture, but also by analyzing its social and political implications.
