In Event: Talk about UNconventional: Were So Diverse, Were Praxically United! Top Papers - Communication as Social Construction
I will analyze the post-9/11 rhetoric of President George W. Bush. First, I will expand on the discussion of the intrinsic role of language in the social construction of reality and, consequently, the formation of nationalism and citizenship; Second, I will discuss Altheides (2006) concept of the politics of fear; and third, using ideological and feminist critique, I will highlight the various ways in which U.S. citizens are socially constructed by President Bushs rhetoric.
