After months of negotiations, HHEA went on strike two days into the new school year. The Dayton Daily News (DDN) coverage of the HHEA strike often favored the consumers (parents, students, and football fans) and the school board over the teachers and staff. Coverage of strikes often distort the situation by filtering the strike with a consumerist frame. The recent redesign of the DDN encourages and exacerbates the distortion of labor disputes with a consumerist frame.
