Abstract

This analysis examines how environmental issues played a central role in the framing of preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. An overview of the environmental and Olympic history of the PRC is followed by a discussion of the bidding and planning process associated with hosting the Beijing Olympiad. A review of framing literature provides analytic context for examining the campaign used by Beijing in dealing with national and international environmental concerns related to the event.
