Temporal Distance and Behavioral Intentions Critical to Organ Donation

Wed, November 17, 9:30 to 10:45am, Parc 55 Hotel, Floor: Level 4, Mission I

Abstract

The current study relied on construal level theory and the theory of planned behavior and examined differential influence of attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control on intention to sign an organ donor registry and to have family discussion about organ donation depending on temporal distance. Results indicated that the relationship between attitude and intention to sign was stronger as temporal distance increased. Theoretical implications as well as implications for communication campaigns are discussed.
