16. Identification and Spirituality in Organizations: An Integrated Literature Review and Proposal

Abstract

In the 21st century, there is a growing need to incorporate spirituality into organizations and find ways in which employees can achieve spiritual fulfillment at work. This essay integrates organizational identification and spirituality literature and proposes a method for research. I argue that communication scholars are in a position to provide more complete understandings of the ways in which individuals become identified and the individual and organizational outcomes of such identification, especially on spiritual fulfillment.
