For researchers studying the impact of media use on young audiences, knowing the amount and type of media that the child consumes is essential. In this study, we present findings from a nationally representative survey of 1,454 American parents. We explored the home media environment by looking at the (1) type of media access the average American child experiences with particular attention paid to bedroom media, (2) children’s daily exposure to background and foreground television.
