In Event: Multiple Perspectives of Political Rhetoric: From the Use of Rhetoric to Presidential Rhetoric
In my project, I perform a rhetorical genealogy of the myth of American exceptionalism to account for the various ways this myth has become reified. I see presidential rhetoric as a primary vehicle for the perpetuation of the myth of American exceptionalism and will thus focus my genealogical efforts on the ways in which the nation has been touted by presidents, especially President Barack Obama.
