Session Submission Type: Roundtable
This roundtable brings together scholars to discuss how, in recent years, trans studies has taken shape both alongside and in tension with gender and women’s studies. We will also discuss the potentials of trans studies scholarship and activism to develop new ways of living. As a point of focus, we will reflect on Susan Stryker’s formative work in the field of trans* studies. Panelists will discuss the continued relevance of Stryker’s work, how Stryker informs the future trajectories and questions of trans* studies, and how our own scholarship continues to take shape in relation to her work.
