Using the concept of Sonic Introduction from faculty in the Department of African American & African Studies at Michigan State University, this audio/visual project uses personal narrative (poetry)explores gender, race, and sexuality. Using personal narrative (poetry), music, and qualitative interviews I explain who I am and the various positionalities I occupy as Black queer student, researcher, friend, sister, and daughter and the different ways these positionalities render me legible and illegible. The video results in a reclamation of creative power and names who I want to be.
