The Models and Modeling Working Group has provided a venue for researchers to discuss and collaborate on research fundamental to learning through real-world problem solving since the first PME-NA conference in 1978. In convening this Working Group at PME-NA 38, we will lay the groundwork for a shared writing project: producing an edited volume on the research questions and opportunities around learning through modeling over extended (course-length) time periods. At the same time, we invite newcomers to the Working Group to participate, as our session plans offer opportunities to contribute to and learn about the Models and Modeling Perspective.
