Session Type: Professional Development Session
What’s all the Twitter fuss about and does being on Twitter really matter for academics? This workshop is designed both for those new to the world of Twitter and those looking for a few pointers from the ‘pros.’ Attendees will learn the basics, get step-by-step pointers on setting up and using a Twitter account, learn effective and efficient tools for participation, and have time to get their Twitter questions answered. Presenters will address:
• How to create a Twitter profile that people will want to follow
• How to find and engage other academics on Twitter
• The purpose and power of a hashtag
• How to craft successful tweets, attract followers, and get retweeted
• Academic Twitter do’s and don’ts
This session is organized by Jill Braunstein, Director of Communications at SRCD (@SRCDTweets). Presenters include Pamela Davis-Kean, University of Michigan (@pdakean) and Lauren Mims, University of Virginia (@dreamwdeadline).
