Wed, April 7, 10:00 to 11:30am EDT (10:00 to 11:30am EDT), Virtual

Abstract

The second presentation provides information about three studies conducted by NCES. The Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Birth Cohort (ECLS-B) is a nationally representative longitudinal study of children born in 2001. The Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 1998-99 (ECLS-K) is a nationally representative longitudinal study of children who were in kindergarten in the 1998-99 school year. The Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 2010-11 (ECLS-K:2011) is a nationally representative longitudinal study of children who were in kindergarten in the 2010-11 school year. The ECLS studies provide data collected from children, their parents, school staff, and care providers that enable researchers to analyze how a wide range of characteristics relate to children’s development and to their experiences and success in school. Finally, the National Household Education Surveys Program (NHES) is a series of repeated cross-sectional surveys that focus on different populations of children. In 2019 the NHES fielded its Early Childhood Program Participation survey and its Parent and Family Involvement in Education survey.
