Session Type: Professional Development Session
This session will focus on career fellowships and funding opportunities available across the continuum of a researcher’s career trajectory. The American Educational Research Association (AERA); Foundation for Child Development; Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) in the Administration for Children and Families (ACF); Society for Research on Child Development (SRCD); and Spencer Dissertation Fellowships are key sources for fellowships and funding opportunities. The goal of this session is to engage participants and provide information on several available career advancement and professional development opportunities.
This session will start with a panel presentation, and will conclude with small group breakout sessions. During the initial panel, presenters will provide an overview of their program(s), including a description of application requirements, selection criteria, and examples of previously funded awards. After the panel, each presenter/sponsor will host a breakout session; participants will be given the choice of which session to attend. The breakout session discussions will bring together sponsors, past/current award recipients, and session participants for a more in-depth discussion about the particular funding/fellowship opportunity. If breakout sessions are not logistically possible, a concluding question and answer session will take it’s place. This 30-minute Q and A will be hosted by all five panel presenters and moderated by the session organizers, and will allow attendees to ask questions directly pertaining to one of the programs presented.
The session organizer will be Sara Vecchiotti, Ph.D., Esq., Vice President, Foundation for Child Development.
