A considerable amount of research has examined factors associated with women’s fertility intentions or the fertility intentions of couples. Little research has explored factors associated with male fertility intentions or that has compared men and women’s fertility intentions. Using life course theories and the National Survey of Family Growth, this paper will assess the relationship between fertility intentions and gender attitudes, religiosity, and partnership status. The research is geared toward answering the following question: what specific factors such as gender attitudes, religiosity, and partnership status are likely to increase fertility intentions among men?
