An Exploration of K–12 Students' Conceptions of Learning With Technology: A Drawing Analysis

Sat, April 18, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

Students (N = 377) across K-12 grade levels were tasked with drawing a picture to answer the questions “What is learning with technology?” and “What is it like when you are learning with technology?” Data were coded using validated protocols, and results were summarized across school levels. Students most frequently conceptualized their learning with technology as related to information access and did not specify a particular location for their learning. Students’ emotions regarding learning with technology appeared to become less positive as they progress through school and they less frequently conceptualized using technology to learn with peers. These findings, among others, are discussed, along with the significance of the findings.
